benefits of fostering with your local authority

We are the real people in your local area, already supporting the children in need of looking after. We have the ultimate responsibility for all children in care in Merthyr. This means you have greater flexibility in the types of care you and your family would be best suited to. We work side-by-side with social workers and children’s social workers, all based in the same building which is what ensures everything we do is focused around the children.

We keep children local wherever possible. Children will have their school, their friends, their favourite park. By fostering with us, you’re providing the opportunity for children to stay in an area they’re already familiar with, minimising disruption.

As a not-for-profit organisation, all the funding we receive goes towards the service we provide, on your training and support, reinvested into our foster carers. We do not make a profit on children in care. By fostering with your local authority, you’re helping to minimise the profit-making of children in care.

“We decided to transfer about two years ago and more recently started looking into fostering children with complex needs because we feel we have sufficient training and support to do so. We’re so glad we transferred!”

how to transfer to us

It all starts with a chat. From there, we can explain exactly how the process works and as you’re already in the fostering world, the process will be unique to you.

It’s quite straightforward and we have experience from other carers that have already transferred to us. We’ve learnt how to make the transition as smooth as possible and you’ll be kept in the loop the whole way.

We want to know how we can best support you going forward, identify any needs you may have, and make sure we know you inside out to figure out which children would be best suited to you and your family.

We’d love to have a chat with you.
